Are you supposed to activate your American Express gift card? Where do you sign?

I recently received an American Express gift card for $50 dollars for xmas. I don’t know if you need to activate it or not, a few people told me you dont have to, just to sign,but theres no where to sign! Help?

I got one too and did not have to activate it. I just used it. But, I do have a signature space on the back. That’s strange!
Mine says that you can call 1-877-axp-gift for customer service… might want to try them… Sarah O
