Can I buy something with a gift card and then return the item and get cash?

Actually most stores now will only give it either back onto a gift card or a merch. credit. But Nordstrom has always had a soft policy on returns. When u return the item don’t show the receipt,the tag will have all the info they need-say you got it as a gift and for what ever reason you are returning it and don’t have time to look for anything else. pooh
