How Much Should I Put On the Gift Card?

How much is appropriate to put on a gift card for a child? My friend and I started talking again after a year of not talking with each other due to irreconcilable differences.
my friend and I knew each other since elementary school. she is currently a single mom living on her own with no support. i don’t think she has child support from her daughter’s father. hope this can determine how much I should put on the gift card.
I have never met her daughter. just seen her through pictures.

The reason I chose walmart or a music store is because he just moved to my town. (used to live in California) and I don’t know alot about what he likes.
