A gift card has a set amount of money on it. You can use it for purchasing anything online up to that amount, including all extra charges like tax and shipping. So, for instance, if you have a $25 gift card and you buy an item for $20 and have to pay $1 tax and $2 shipping, you will be charged $23 off the gift card.

However, if you buy something for $24, and adding up the tax and shipping puts you over the $25 mark, then no the gift card will not work because you don’t have enough money on it.

You won’t get a “bill” for a gift card…instead you just call the number to find out how much money is left on it for you to spend. Vangorn2000

As Yogi Bera once said, it is as good as cash. You can use it to pay the entire order.

Your credit card won’t be charged if your gift card pays for it all. SG

Yes, if your gift card has enough money on it, it can be used for the entire transaction, including tax and shipping cost. So, nothing will show up on your credit card.

However, if you don’t have enough funds, they will allow you to use another form of payment (your credit card) for the remaining balance and that charge will appear on your credit card (if you decide to use your credit card). GiftCardBlogger™
