I was recently given an American Express gift card for $50. Whenever I try to purchase something online, I am always asked for billing address, but since this was a gift card I do not have one for this card. How do I add a billing address or make a purchase?

I have an Amazon gift card and I’m wondering why they ask for a billing address. Unlike credit cards you’re just typing the code in for a gift card then the fund is redeemed right away, so what’s the point?
